I picked to be with Longevity. My story is the gentlemen I was talking was going blind. I am blind my self. I told them how I live and do is much as possible on my own. Richard is the gentlemen I talked to with his wife. We were given a $20 gift card to Walmart and we asked the vets what they would like. My vet needed some new shirts. So the group I was with went shopping, and I was able to get my vet 5 shirts. We went back to the Nurseing home and had a lovely lunch, but my favorite part was taking the gifts into the room and giving them to my person. He is like this is to much. I am like, but we wanted to do this for you because you sirved for us. They were very happy witch made me happy.

Richard is invavled with his church, so I asked him if he would like for me to say a prair for him. He said I want for you to pray for anything for me. I am going to put him in my prairs every night. It really makes you think about how hard the vets sirved for us today.

I want to thank everyone for putting this together to make it possible for us to come together to put smiles on peoples faces. I plan on going to the nurseing home once or twice a month to visit the person I saw today.

At first, I was just going to Intersection because my girlfriend was planning it and it was important to her that I come and help out. This weekend comes at a very busy time in my life and it's over a 2 hour drive each way, so I agreed to come but wasn't really that into it. Once I arrived and started working, however, others' enthusiasm and work ethic wore on me and my attitude picked up. Because I don't live in Bloomington, the whole effect of the day didn't impact me until we got to the celebration. After hearing the stories and experiencing the *commonality* with all the people there, I really feel truly blessed by having a part in the day. Thanks for all your work, you Intersection Planners; it made a huge impact on those benefiting from the service and those serving.

I've volunteered for years at Western Ave. Com. Center, Boys and Girls Club, worked with the disabled and have an equine therapy program for children with cancer. However, yesterday I felt Jesus in a whole new way. He was hugging people with my arms. He was serving people with my hands. His presence was overwhelming- I had a hard time holidng back tears. And what was the difference? It was ALL of us doing it together! It was a Jesus family reunion and the power of agreement was too much for words. I felt incredible joy, unexplainable energy and indescribable peace.

The best lesson I learned???

When I was introducing the song "Trading my Sorrows" at the Jesus House, I asked a homeless man if he would trade me the empty wrapper that he held in his hand for the dollar that was in mine. His answer... "HE** yeah!"

The irony of using profanity to accept what Jesus offers... Hmmmm, my religious upbringing tells me that was totally inappropriate. My Savior tells me that is exactly where we are to be meeting people. Intersection Team - God will bless you in ways we can't even imagine.

there are so many stories to tell but i figured i would narrow it down to two specific ones:

1.) when we first got started building the split rail fence (at Orlando) things were a little hectic. nobody really had any experience and we were flying by the seat of our pants. we were struggling to get the first set of posts and rails in. things were sliding and just not going together very well. i was praying for one set of extra hands....then kevin strolled in - literally. kevin is a resident at Orlando and just so happened to "stroll" up in his wheelchair at the exact moment i was looking to God. he grabbed the rail and helped us set it. it was beautiful. although kevin can't do much, his hands were there when we needed them, an answer to my prayer.

2.)this one has to do with my brother and may be a little more personal. my brother is in high school so him and i dont get to see or talk to each other very often. it just so happens that he took the ACT saturday down here at Wesleyan. now i say just so happens, but i know God put him here this weekend. after his test was over, he came with me to Orlando where i got to see the Lord work through him. i dont know what he felt about the weekend but i know he was encouraged to see kids our age doing something for the community in the name of God. i know i enjoyed the time we got to spend together because i got to see God working in him. moreover, i think my brother and i got to see a great leap in our relationship both with each other and with the creator of all things.

The miracles are still happening at Orlando. I am the manager at Orlando. All day residents stopped at the office to ask for more flower beds. Express their Thanks for all that was given to them. Tonight when I left work, 30 PLUS children were on the playground. The equipment could not hold another child. The best part of PARENTS were sitting there with the children. Praise God and all his faithfull workers for you have brought life and a hope for tomorrow to Orlando and all the families who live there.

This past weekend was great. I want to compliment you for your courage and obedience. while I was not involved from the begining, I can only imagine that it took courage on the part of your leadership team to step out in faith and trust God to do a work of love that was very large and well beyond the scale of anything you had ever done before. I compliment you for trusting in the Lord and looking to Him for all provisions. I also want to compliment your ministry on the quality of students you have. As my wife and I labored next to many college students from both ISU and IWU, we were very impressed. We were blessed not only by serving but by having the chance to work with and worship with a group of wonderful college students. Thanks for letting us be a part of Intersection.

I experienced the greatest honor ever and that is working for The Lord Jesus Christ and His Father. I was in the vivacity tract and being outside getting dirty was a blessing. Seeing so many different people working hard to honor God and the community brings joy to my heart. I was able to meet Edwin who is Amish and some great people from the Jacab's well Church. It is encouraging to know that we all share the same attitude for serving God and the community. Then we went to Orlando Park. That was amazing. Seeing all the children with tools bigger than themselves trying to help. I know that seeds were planted in the residents at Orlando Park. We should continue to be involved to be a light in darkness.

I have never done anything like this in my life. I was so excited to help out with Simplicity. I wanted to be part of the Cleaning Team so I could do Vacation Bible School. Our first task was to go in these apartments and knock on random doors and find kinds to come. It seemed really strange to me. My friend Carolyn and I go to the first door, not knowing what to expect. We run into 5 kids about 5 and under ALL ALONE! It broke our hearts. How easily could they have been taken away? I couldn't even think straight. Vacation Bible School was awesome. All these beautiful, innocent children who had so little coming together to hear about Jesus. It filled me with so much joy to know that we were helping spread God's love to these children who need it so bad. To see these people's faces light up at getting toys and food and diapers, was UNFORGETTABLE. It really humbled me. Things that are no big deal to me, mean so much to them. That really makes me think about how GREAT God has been to me. Just going in and doing something as simple as cleaning was the most rewarding task ever. You could see in these people's faces just how much it meant to them. It just makes you feel so good inside to know you are doing these things in the name our Heavenly Father. I will never forget the way this community was impacted or the way it impacted me. I am really excited to start some sort of Babysitting Service with 2 friends of mine that will help out the families of Orlando Northbrook Estates. God really has called us to help out after seeing so much there. I am really excited to what God is going to do with that and with me. Definitely best day of my life.

I went over to Orlando today to drop off some keys and books to Karen and wanted you all to know what happened. I was in the waiting area with two other women from the complex and they began talking about the playground (I didn't mention it). They said there were probably about 35 kids playing on it last night and there wasn't room for any more. Karen came to the window and talked with one of the ladies about the playground and that if residents' children were on the playground, their parents needed to be out there as well...She's already making sure things go smoothly :)

After talking to Karen and one of the ladies it seemed like the atmosphere was completely different than I have experienced in the past when I have been there. They were talking about future plans, having a concert or worship event located at Orlando, upcoming plans for an Easter Egg Hunt, and even just turning the neighborhood around into a quiet fun place that people want to be a part of. In fact, next week Karen's daughter is bringing flats of flowers to plant around the property. Becky also told me this morning about plans a few girls have for starting a vacation bible school over there every saturday as well.

I was smiling the whole time because of how beautiful it was to see the things that God did and will continue to do. I wanted to let you all know because I thought it was absolutely beautiful to see God's hand at work that day and the fact that it continues to be a part of the lives of the residents. I Hope this encourages you all and brings a smile to your face.

Intersection was truly an awesome day. This was the first time I have ever experienced something like this. I walked away feeling so good about the entire day and being able to help others and to serve God. I was part of the Simplicity trac. I was part of the VBS/Cleaning Crew once the day got started. The VBS was amazing. The children really got into it and really enjoyed themselves. We had a guest speaker to talk to the children about "Who is Jesus". The speaker had let the children particpate and get into it. Once this was over, there was two men from a Church and children from the same Church as well. They had rapped for the children about God and how God is there for them and how Great He is. The children really got into this. There was a little boy who was sitting next to me and he was dancing and had the biggest simle on his face. Afterwards I had asked him if he had enjoyed what he just saw and he said, "Yes". I thought that was just awesome. Then later in the day, we had got partnered up to go and clean the walls and stariwells of the apartment buildings. My partner Hailee and I had gone around telling everyone who lived in the apartment building we were cleaning in about what was going on outside and about the concert at Capen. One of the people who had lived in these apartments had started to ask us questions about how she could become involved in Intersection. We were doing out best to answer her questions. We thought that was great how someone wanted to be involved as well. Then a little while later, the same lady had gone out and came back to her apartment. There was a small group of us cleaning in the stairwell now and she gave us a comment that I feel I am going to carry with me. She said, "I don't know if everyone here is appreciating what you guys are doing, but I just want to let you know that I do". With that comment made, I could tell everyone who lived most likely felt the same way as she did. This experience I feel had impacted everyone that was involved. Those apart of Intersection, as well as though who we were helping. I have walked away so happy and so proud of myself for being apart of Intersection. God was truly apart of this day, and is a blessing to have in out lives. After this day I truly feel I have become close to God then I was before this day.
