Intersection Project makes dreams reality Taken from Letter to the Editor at Pantagraph.com
On April 14 Bloomington Day Care Center and Kids' Club East - non-profit child care facilities - had what was probably the greatest experience in its 35 years of business.
In January we were visited by members of the Intersection Project group and asked to tell them about our needs, dreams and wishes.
Our needs ranged from rubber mulch for under our playground equipment to cleaning and making repairs in our buildings. Intermingled between were items such as painting, furniture and supplies.
On April 14, our dreams became a reality.
We would like to take this time to express a huge thank you to all the people involved in the Intersection project. This thank you goes out to everyone involved from the people who organized the event, the volunteers and the community businesses and people who donated time, materials and equipment.
Thank you for helping us to provide a safer environment for some of the youngest members of our community.
Even more rewarding than the work accomplished and the dreams that became a reality was the support that was felt from all the people that were involved.
As a non-profit program that continually struggles to make ends meet, the support we experienced on April 14 was extremely uplifting.
The philosophy of Intersection to see lives of every background intersect was evident as people from all walks of life worked together to accomplish the goals of the day. There was truly a ``commonality'' in supporting the community as hundreds of people gathered and worked not only at our facilities but also at the Jesus House and a dance for the older members of the community. Thank you once again for all the support, work, and especially the new friendships.
